Welcome to 3 Doors Down

This is the My Music Album Section related to 3 Doors Down.

3 Doors Down an American Rock Band from Escatawpa, Mississippi the Homeland of Blues Music in the USA formed in 1996 by Lead Singer/Drummer Brad Arnold, Lead Guitar and Backing Vocals Matt Roberts and Bass Guitar Todd Harrell that combines the Music Genres Post Grunge, Hard Rock and Alternative Rock.

Their Debut Studio Album called The Better Life was released in February 2000 and the First Song and also the First Single was Kryptonite.

This is the only Studio Album where Brad Arnold played the Drums.

The Song that I’m going to analyse in a simple way is Kryptonite it starts with an instantly recognizable Melodic Arpeggiated opening.

An Arpeggio that’s playing the Notes on the Guitar one after the other in either an ascending or descending way.

The Standard Music Structure is Verse 1 that sets the Story or Scene, the Chorus that delivers the Main Message and Core Emotion, the Verse 2 that continues the Story or Scene, the Bridge that sets a contrasting Section that breaks the Pattern and the final Chorus the final and most Energetic Repetition.

It’s a Song with a Pre Chorus (If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman?) that bridges the Verse to the Main Chorus.

If I go crazy then will you still call me Superman?
If I'm alive and well, will you be there holding my hand?
I'll keep you by my side with my superhuman might
Kryptonite.

A Chorus is the catchy memorable part of the Song between the Verses that repeats the same Lyrics and Melody.

It usually features a Higher Vocal Range, more Instruments and a louder volume to release the Musical Tension built in the Verses.

Both the Pre Chorus and the Bridge are used to connect one part of the Song to another but this is optional and a choice of a Songwriter.

The Pre Chorus is a type of Bridge.

A Bridge in a Song is a contrasting Section that breaks the Repetition of Verses and Choruses by introducing a New Melody, Rhythm or Lyrical Perspective to advance the Story or Scene and to Manage Tension.

It usually appears after the Second Chorus, builds Tension and prepares the Listener for the Final Energetic Chorus.

There’s no Traditional Vocal Bridge in this Song instead the Third Chorus features a change in the Musical Instrumentation.

Brad Arnold the Lead Singer has a Post Grunge type of Voice with a Chest Register or Voice (The name comes from the Vibrations that can be felt inside the Chest Cavity whilst producing the Sound) that’s the Lower Register of the Human Speaking and Singing Voice and the Belting that’s the Vocal Technique that carries the Power, Weight and Brassy Timbre of the Chest Voice into the Higher Registers.

He also has a Rasp between his Chest and Head Register or Voice that’s the Upper Vocal Range used in Singing and Speaking.
